1. About us

C'est La Stay is an earthen guest house and hostel in Edayanchavadi, Auroville, Tamil Nadu 605101, India ("we", "us"). You can reach us at stay@cestlastay.com.

2. Booking requests

• Sending a request through our website does not by itself confirm a reservation. Your booking is confirmed only when we confirm it to you by email.
• No prepayment is taken when you send a request.
• Prices on our website are shown in Indian rupees and may change until your booking is confirmed. The price in your confirmation is the one that applies, plus any taxes required by law.
• Please make sure the details you give us are accurate, including the number of guests. Each stay has a maximum occupancy.

3. Payment

You pay as set out in your booking confirmation, at the guest house or online through our guest portal. Online card payments are processed securely by Stripe. Charges for extra services during your stay are added to your bill.

4. Changes and cancellations

The cancellation and no-show terms for your booking are set out in your confirmation. If you need to change or cancel your stay, email us as early as possible at stay@cestlastay.com. If we ever have to cancel a confirmed booking, we'll tell you as soon as we can and refund anything you've paid for the cancelled nights.

5. Check-in and check-out

Check-in is from 2:00 pm and check-out is by 11:00 am. Early check-in or late check-out may be possible depending on availability. Please ask us in advance.

6. Identification

Indian law requires every guest to present valid government-issued photo ID at check-in. Foreign nationals must present their passport and a valid Indian visa, and we are required to report their stay to the immigration authorities. We cannot check in a guest who doesn't provide the required ID.

7. During your stay

• Please treat the guest house, other guests, our team and the Auroville community and environment with respect.
• You are responsible for damage you or your companions cause beyond normal wear and tear.
• Everyone staying overnight must be registered with us at check-in, with the ID described above.
• We may end a stay without refund in cases of serious misconduct, illegal activity, or behaviour that puts people or property at risk.

8. Guest portal and staff application

While you're staying with us, you can use our guest portal by entering your booking number and last name. Please keep your booking number private.

The staff application at app.cestlastay.com is for authorised C'est La Stay staff only. Staff sign in with the Google or Apple account an administrator has registered for them, must not share their access, and may have it withdrawn at any time.

9. Using our website

The content of this website, including text, photographs and design, belongs to C'est La Stay or is used with permission, and may not be copied for commercial use without our consent. Photographs are illustrative: rooms and surroundings may vary slightly. We try to keep the information here accurate, but it may change without notice. Please don't misuse the website, for example by trying to disrupt it or gain unauthorised access.

Our website links to other websites, such as Google Maps, that we don't control. We aren't responsible for their content or practices.

10. Liability

We take care to provide a safe and comfortable stay. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of or damage to personal belongings unless it is caused by our negligence. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, or your rights as a consumer.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Tamil Nadu, India. We'd always prefer to resolve concerns directly, so please contact us first.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page at the time you make your booking applies to that booking.
